Payroll plagues Health
Queensland Health’s payroll woes continued last week when the Commonwealth Bank which processes the payments suffered a processing error, holding up payments and inconveniencing staff.
   Director-General of Queensland Health, Dr Tony O’Connell said the pay run was processed smoothly by the Department.
   “Unfortunately, despite Queensland Health having paid the money to the bank, the bank has not successfully transferred the money to our staff,” Dr O’Connell said.
   “This means that staff may have experienced pay problems even if they are not
   Commonwealth Bank customers.”
   The Bank advised that was working on fix the problem.

Flood recalls
The Floods Commission of Inquiry has issued orders for a number of new statements.
   The Commission wants to hear again from the Minister for Energy and Water Utilities, Stephen Robertson; UK Trade Commissioner Ken Smith; Director General of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, John Bradley; Director General of the Department of Environment and Resource Management, Jim Reeves and Assistant Director General, Debbie Best have been requested.
   The written statements are concerned with their knowledge of the operations of Wivenhoe Dam during the floods.

Screens are free
Free breast screens are to be available in Nerang until mid-February.
   BreastScreen Queensland’s Gold Coast service will operate a mobile breast-screening unit across from the Australian Red Cross in Ferry Street.
   All women aged 40 and over without symptoms of breast cancer are eligible for a free breast screen.
   To arrange an appointment at the location, or one of the permanent facilities at Helensvale, Southport or West Burleigh, phone 13 20 50.

Burleigh police reopen
The refurbished Burleigh Heads Police Complex has been officially opened.
   The new complex houses a Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) and a larger Major Incident Room to manage and coordinate investigations.
   The station is now capable of housing 53 officers and civilian support staff.

Museum popular
The redeveloped Queensland Museum which opened its doors following a $14.3 million revamp has been a huge hit.
   Early reports show that more than 30,000 people visited the Museum and Sciencentre over its three-day opening weekend.
